How to Change My Website Domain

Domains: How to Change My Website Domain

You can change your domain name at any time, and all links to your website will automatically redirect to the new domain address. To update your domain, navigate to Website > Settings and click the pencil icon. In the next step, you can replace your current domain with a new one.

If you don’t have an active package, you can only use a free domain. To use your own custom domain, you’ll need to purchase one of the available packages. The process for purchasing a package is explained in the article Costs and Payments.

The steps to update your domain depend on whether it was registered with HitMe or an external domain provider:

Domains Registered with HitMe

If your domain is registered with HitMe, it’s already associated with our servers. Simply update the domain name in your settings and save the changes. Your website should be accessible at the new address shortly after, with no additional actions required.

Domains Registered with External Providers

If your domain is registered with an external provider, the process is slightly different. First, you’ll need to associate your domain with our servers by updating the nameservers in your domain provider’s control panel. During the domain change process, you’ll find the required DNS settings in your HitMe panel. Update these DNS settings with your domain registrar.

Please note that it may take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate, during which your website may not immediately appear at the new address.

Important Notes:

If your domain is registered with a provider other than HitMe, all renewal costs and other domain-related fees remain the responsibility of your original provider. Connecting an external domain to HitMe is free of charge.

Your domain will remain registered with the original provider, and the only required action is updating its DNS settings to point to HitMe servers.

HitMe does not support domain transfers from external providers to our platform.
